Time frames after submitting FASFA?

My son is a high school senior and has been accepted to 5 schools so far. I filed the FAFSA on 1/1 using last years taxes and I know I need go back in and edit once I have filed this years taxes. Can anyone tell me what happens now? I got the EFC (3292) back. I listed all 5 of the schools when filing the form. How long does it take for the schools (Hofstra, Ohio University, IU – Bloomington, UConn and U of Bridgeport) to come back with a financial aid package? Does it matter if they are private or public? IU acceptance came with an automatic $5,000.00 yr. merit, Hofstra – $16,000.00 yr. merit and Bridgeport – $15,000.00 merit award. Will the letters have all he is eligible for spelled out and list the remaining amount that I must pay? Most schools request the acceptance of the student and housing deposit by 4/1 or soon after? Will the receipt of these letters give us enough time to review all options? THANKS!!!

I would give the school until March to process his fafsa. Online they will show you the breakdown of how much tuition costs, how much you are expected to contribute, and what you are being awarded. For more funding options check out www.collegetipsntricks.com
