Is “student grant” out of Viz an obnoxious creation? Or am I just thin skinned?

The Student Grant character is an enormous pop at undergraduate students everywhere…

I think we need more information or a link. You can add on to the question any time. Generally being thin skinned runs like this. If we use judgmental instead of descriptive words we tend to be picky and too much in to things, including ourselves. On the other hand using descriptive words are more accurate and scientific and actually improve judgment and sensitivity. Separating from emotions, we can actually face deeper emotions and pass off more bad behavior, correct our thinking corrupted from it and then get away from it, if it doesn’t change. Study emotional intelligence and you’ll have it. EI is the single most important measurement of success and happiness because emotions are the strongest part of us over ‘reason’, and the least understood so the easiest way to be head and shoulders above the crowd. It eventually leads to better intuition and the shift of consciousness is found to be the secret to genius rather than something mysterious.

Student fees hike in UK universities

Tuition fees for students in UK have seen vertical growth in recent years 2009-10. Students in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales are liable to pay at the most £3225 per year now. The reason behind these universities needs more money. As per UK Government while graduates are benefitted by a degree and enjoying high growth in career and earnings, students should pay back some thing worthy to the universities in terms of high tuition charges.

 Universities are asking for Top- up fees which were not the part earlier as promised by the minister. Because the actual cost of running the course is around 4 times higher than what is usually charged from the students as capitation fees. To meet the needs top-up fees was coined on 2005 by Ruth Kelly, the education secretary. Even the actual cost of course varies from subject to subject. Science and Engineering courses are costlier than English and psychology streams. So this aspect needs to be taken care of.

 Hence a major dilemma has been created among all England’s universities. Government has given freedom to universities to set their tuition fees between £0 to £3000. University vice chancellors are yet to decide on fees for different courses whether to keep it same or different. Even to charge higher tuition fees universities has to satisfy Access Regulator –Offa. This is to ensure universities have approved grant schemes and policies.

 Full grant is only available for student’s having house hold income less than £17,500. For partial grants it ranges between £17,501 and £37,425. So what needed is to arrange another £300 grants for poorest students if tuition charges are getting increased.

 Student loans are available up to 75% of the maximum irrespective of income for everyone upon qualified once. If the debts are outstanding after 25 years then it could be written off from loan or fees. But ministers suggest repaying the debts with in 13 years. Hence there is always a burden on students though government says that students need not to pay during their study period.

 This has led to growing interest on part time jobs. Home tutor in London is now popular due to this reason.  Students are trying to earn extra incomes to pacify their debt burden. Tuition agencies are operating online to provide such services to the tutors.  There are good demand of Liverpool tutors among students community as well.

 Students coming from overseas need to pay same course fees to pursue under graduate course as UK residents are contributing. The government is taking necessary action to ensure the loans are recovered from the students coming from other European Union countries.

Financial Aid – Pell Grant Application … Need help ?

My Boyfriend and I have been living together for about 9 yrs. and he started attending college in the Fall and applied for Financial Aid. He was approved and said they’ll send him his first check soon. Before they do they needed him to fill out one more paperwork. It was regarding any dependents or adults living in the same household. I live with him so he wrote down the information that I live with him and under relationship to student he wrote Domestic Partner. Now they put his Financial Aid payment on hold until he provides them a proof of Partnership. We’re not married just living together. He told them it’s a Common-Law marriage but they want Proof. How can you get proof for Domestic Partnership or Common-Law marriage ? According to California Law … Common-Law marriages are not recognized. How can we clear this up ? Anyone been in this situation before with Financial Aid and how did you clear it up ??

The best way to clear it up is for him to correct the fafsa. “Number in household”

Or ask the school to correct it. If you read the instructions about who to include in the “household” (note: this is not always the number of people living in the household ie YOU) you can’t list a girlfriend unless you are common law married. So, to fix this, he would need to correct the “number in household” (to just himself if he listed both you and him). If you were married, then he would be able to include you, since you are not, he can’t.

You obviously have no “proof” you are married (no documentations) otherwise you would know about it. Since you can’t show the school you are married, you are not.

Will getting grant money for school increase chance of IRS audit?

My father has paid for my college education until recently. I need a student loan but need to file a FAFSA first according to my school. However, my dad owns a business that reported an excessive amount of expenses. Not anything that will incriminate him seriously but it would be a real pain going through the audit process for him (English is not his native lang)
