Posted by Sandra Wright

Synopsis about book from barnesandnoble.com Uncertain about how you’re going to pay for college? Afraid of drowning in a sea of student debt? Well fear not–Benjamin Kaplan once felt that way too. But that was before he discovered that hundreds of millions of dollars in scholarship prizes are waiting to be won. After winning nearly 000 in unrestricted merit-based scholarship money (which covered virtually the entire cost of attending Harvard), Kaplan has come storming back with a no-holds-barred guide showing how you can do it too. In How To Go To College Almost For Free, Kaplan builds upon his own experiences, and adds insights from interviews with other scholarship winners–revealing insider secrets that put scholarship money within the reach of all students, regardless of their GPAs. The result is an “indispensable resource for high school and college students, as well as for families caught in the middle-income financial aid crunch.”

President Obama’s “Moms Return to School Grant” is such a great opportunity to continue your education. The president has asked every American to consider getting more education so that the United States can remain competitive on the world stage. In fact, his goal is for the U.S. to have more college graduates per capita by 2020 than any other country in the world.

To do that, he has implemented a wide range of financial aid programs which help mothers return to school.

One is increasing the Federal Pell Grant from $4050 to $5350. That extra $1300 can go a long way toward paying for tuition, household expenses or day care.

The president has also encouraged colleges themselves to take a look at how they are pricing their programs. It’s no secret that the price of tuition has far outpaced the rate of inflation for some time now.

Obama’s challenge has resulted in some concrete changes too. For instance, at Arizona State University, the new “Obama Scholarships” offer tuition, room, board, and other expense money to 2000 students.

Grants specifically for mothers returning to school have the power to change your life, enable you to make more money, and can ultimately make your existence a happier one. Keep focused on the big picture, of yourself in a better life, and you will succeed.

I have found this resource Free Scholarships for Moms, and I would like to share it with you. See how many scholarships you can get approved for. Just enter your name and email address.

Fallout on Main Street: College Debt 101 in Bloomington, Indiana

Posted by Sandra Wright

Is Sallie Mae poised to join Fannie Mae on the list of economic disaster stories? The rising cost of a university education combined with a flat job market is making it difficult for students and their families to pay off college loans. In Bloomington, Indiana many of those waiting tables and cleaning dishes at the famed Mother Bear’s Pizzeria are Indiana University students working their way through school. Catching the rare free moment between orders, workers describe the stress they are feeling in these rocky economic times. The recent credit crunch at the banks and the chaos on Wall Street has already added to their worries – undercutting family credit records, draining stock funds, and causing some students to question what the future will hold.
