student grant parental income
about the fafsa independent student (again)?

hi, im doing the FAFSA and i am independent student
who had a guadianship and im 18(legal). i put all my financial status, such as
income and tax return..etc, as $0. does that mean i won’t get
any grants from FAFSA?

for those who think im a dependent because im not 25 and not married yet, i AM an independent for sure because my answer is yes to this question which distinguish if i am dependent or independent.
(Are you, or were you in legal guardianship as determined by a court in Georgia or in your state of legal residence at the time you received the determination (question 57)?)

so, as a independent student, i have a option to not to fill out parental info, so i didnt because.. my parents live in foreign country ( no tax return to u.s.) do you think i can get grants to illinois when i live in georgia?

You can get federal grants for school in any state regardless of where you have resiency. However, there are maximum amounts and those won’t increase just because your school costs more. Since you didn’t work and you are an independent student, you will most likely qualify for those maximums. Anything your school costs beyond those amounts will need to be made up by scholarships, private loans, or your own savings.
Also, any state grants either from Georgia or Illinois (if there are any) won’t be available to you because state grants are given to residents of a particular state who are continuing their education in that state.
