financial aid information
can financial aid ask for my spouse’s financial information if we weren’t married the previous year?

I am reapplying for my FASFA and they have requested to see my husband’s financial documents. I understand they have the right to do that, however they go by the previous years W-2’s. Well, we weren’t married last year. Do they still have the right to request such documents even though we weren’t married last year ( we also have not lived together for a year before we got married).

Yes, they will require his income if you want to apply for fin aid. Even if you weren’t married the year before and you didn’t file your taxes together you are suppose to combine everything on the fafsa form because the day you filled out the fafsa you were married.
